Understanding Why Your Pet Chews:
Pets chew for various reasons; teething, exploration, separation anxiety, boredom and stress. Chewing is a natural animal behavior, so the goal is to effectively train your pet to chew on appropriate objects. Be sure your pet has appropriate chewing toys.

How Bitter YUCK! Works:
To most pets, Bitter YUCK! has an unappealing taste, making chewing on the particular sprayed object unpleasant and decreasing the unwanted behavior. Due to the complexities of taste preferences and behavior issues, results may vary. It is important to monitor your pet’s reaction to Bitter YUCK!. Be sure your pet is deterred by the taste before leaving them alone with the object being sprayed.

  3. We used the Naturvet bitter spray on the cough. For our dog and the dog eat the Furniture what are the side effects.

  4. Hi Jennifer. Oh no! The only side effects would be from the couch material your pup might have eaten.

  5. I purchased this and sprayed it on my walls since my puppy was chewing on our molding. The spray gets all over his face now and in his eyes. His eyes are red (bloodshot) and he has green residue coming from his eye ducts. I am very worried and I need to remove this product from our walls asap. Please let me know how I can remove this, thank you!

  6. Hi Maris. We suggest you take your pup to the Veterinarian immediately as it seems he is having a reaction to the Bitter Yuck No Chew spray. You should be able you remove it from your walls with some Windex glass cleaner sprayed on a rag. I would suggest you test a small area first. We would like to do a follow up on your dog’s condition so please give our Customer Service Department a call at 888-628-8783.

  7. I have 3 pets: 2 cats and 1 dog. All 3 of them want to eat the spray- it didn’t work for me after several attempts.

  8. Karen,

  9. yes it can. it is non-toxic, so if it gets onto your dogs paws, it’ll just leave a bitter taste when he licks at them. If you get it on your hands or feet, the easiest way to remove the bitter is to use rubbing alcohol and then a light wash with dawn soap.

  10. Hi Jeannie. Bitter Yuck does not sting because it contains no alcohol, but it should not be sprayed directly into a wound.

  11. How often do you need to reapply BitterYuck? It seems like, once a week my dog (Every Thursday), he still chews his Potty Pad even though I’ve sprayed it all over with Spray.

  12. Hi Diahann. Thank you for your product question. Based on customer feedback, it is safe on hardy plants, but not on delicate ones. You may want to spray the product on a leaf to see if it causes a reaction with the plant.

  13. Hi Carrie. If your furniture is washable, you can spray it with Windex or use rubbing alcohol to remove the product. Please do a test area in an inconspicuous area first.

  14. Hi Heather. Thank you for your product question. The product is almost 99% water and is non toxic, just very, very bitter.

  15. I just want to say it works great for my pup, only problem is if you get it on your hands, you will be tasting it for a week! I’m just wondering if anything besides Windex will remove it, or something more effective? I have learned to use gloves when applying it.

  16. So i was spraying it and i inhaled a bit of it and now i have this sour taste and it won’t go away and i feel i have to through up and suggestions.

  17. Hi Kay. Thank you for your product inquiry. If you spray the Bitter Yuck on your hands, you will taste it even after washing. It is non toxic but we do not advise it because everything you touch to eat will taste like Bitter Yuck. The only way to remove it is hydrogen peroxide, Windex, or rubbing alcohol.

  18. Hi Joshua. It is non toxic and usually sucking on something sweet like a hard candy or cough drop will remove the bittering taste.

  19. What is the ingredients in the buttering agent? Is it an all natural product? That was my understanding. However, it tastes like nail polish remover to me when I got it in my mouth.

  20. Hi Sadie. Thank you for your product question. The bittering agent is Bitrex. They actually add it to household chemicals so children will not drink them. The rest of the product is water.

  21. THIS IS NOW IN THE AIR OF MY HOUSE AND EVERYTIME I BREATHE I TASTE IT. I have a 2 year old and he is freaking out because he tastes it. From breathing. I sprayed it on a cord, directly on it, AND NOW IT IS IN THE AIR ITS DISGUSTING. How do I fix this? Like ASAP. I am so mad it’s unreal.

  22. Hi Jaime. Sometimes over spraying the product can leave a lingering odor but it usually dissipates within an hour. If you are still having an issue with the product because call 888-628-8783 and speak to anyone in Customer Service.

  23. Hi Jenny. Thank you for your product question. The bittering agent in Bitter Yuck is called Bitrex. It is often used in household cleaning products such as furniture polish, so children will not drink them.

  24. My question is if I apply the spray to a dog harness and let it dry will it be effective?

  25. Sprayed furniture/wood in the house 2 days ago. Doesn’t deter puppy however works well on me! Everything I lick from my lips, my skin, a blanket, a plate there is a strong bitter taste on my tongue and inside my mouth and throat. Brushing teeth and sweet candy didn’t remove taste. I now need to wash everywhere product was sprayed on. How do I rid of the bitter taste and is it harmful to my body?

  26. Hi Charmaine. We are sorry the Bitter Yuck has not deterred your pup from chewing your furniture and please visit our website for instructions to apply for a refund. The product is non toxic and to remove it from the skin we suggest hydrogen peroxide, Windex, or rubbing alcohol. To remove the bitter taste in your mouth we suggest rinsing with a product such as Listerine. Your furniture can be spot cleaned with an appropriate furniture fabric cleaner following the manufacturers instructions.

  27. Hi Diane. Thank you for your product question. The Bitter Yuck is effective even after drying but we would suggest you apply it were you will not be touching the harness.

  28. Hi Valeri. Thank you for your product question. I’m sorry. We only manufacture products for dogs, cats and horses.

  29. I’m looking for something to spray on my crib to stop my nine month old daughter from chewing it. Is this safe for babies?

  30. Hi Mandy. Thank you for your product question. We do not manufacture products for humans and do not suggest you use the Bitter Yuck in this application.

  31. My bitter yuck has been amazing my dog hasn’t chewed on my table! But I sprayed it and somehow it’s on my lips and hands how do I get it off so gross!

  32. Hello,

I was wondering if I can spray the Bitter Yuck directly into my dogs mouth to stop him from barking? Thank you.

  33. Hi Robert. Thank you for your product question. The Bitter Yuck product is made to stop pets from inappropriate chewing. The product will do nothing to stop your dog from barking and we will give you a refund.

  34. Hi Bilinda. Thank you for your product question. To remove the Bitter Yuck from you hands you can use hydrogen peroxide, Windex or rubbing alcohol.

  35. Is it okay if I put the bitter yuck spray on my dogs ears? Im asking this because one of my dogs has very dry ears and this is due to my other dog licking his ears constantly. I can’t get her to stop. So i wanted to spray it on his ears.

  36. Hi Isabella. Thank you for your product question. You can certainly apply Bitter Yuck around the ears but not down inside the ears. Please be careful to avoid the eye area. We would also suggest there might be a reason your other dog is licking his ears and you may want to schedule a Veterinarian appointment to have his ears checked out.
